On the Eve of Urs Sar
On May 29, 2022, on the eve of the sacred month of Urs Sar, the ritual “Öördin orna teñgrin sang” will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 in the area near the “Lonely Poplar” natural monument. The monks will prepare everything needed for the ritual, but those who wish may bring sängin idän with them. At 11:30 the Central Khurul of Kalmykia’s tournament in national sports “Erin gurvn naadn” (the three men’s games) will begin. It will be held not far from the Lonely Poplar, in the area near the windmills. Erin hurvn naadn, or the three men’s contests, are competitions in national wrestling (bök bärldän), archery (kharvan), and horse racing (urldan). Everyone is welcome to take part. A mandatory condition is having a passport with registration in the Republic of Kalmykia and having a Kalmyk costume. Also, to take part in the horse races and wrestling competitions, you will need to obtain insurance (it can be arranged at the tournament site, the cost is about 100–200 rubles). You can reach the venue of the event by personal transport or use the shuttle buses that will depart from the khurul parking lot on Ilyumzhinov Street, the fare being 50 rubles. Dear friends!
