As the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak noted, the very smallest steps in comprehending the Dharma we begin to take within the family, from childhood, when you honor your parents, your ancestors, when you treat all living beings with kindness, when you can sincerely wish well-being to a stranger simply passing by, for kindness and compassion are the foundation of Buddhist practice.
