Program of the Celebration of the Day of the First Turning of the Wheel of Teaching

Tomorrow, July 9, the entire Buddhist world will celebrate the Day of the First Turning of the Wheel of Teaching — “Nomin kürdin düütsng.” This is an important event for all believers. It is believed that on this day, more than 2500 years ago, Buddha Shakyamuni, having attained Enlightenment, gave his first Teaching and dedicated it to the Four Noble Truths.

The Turning of the Wheel of Teaching is one of the twelve deeds  of the great Buddha, reflected in his biography.

Every year at the Central Khurul on this day large  festive events take place.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8:00 in the morning the ritual “Määdrin ergts” will be held — a procession of monks and believers around the khurul, carrying out the statue of Maitreya and the sacred texts.

At 9:00 a festive prayer service will take place.

And at 15:00 everyone who wishes may attend the lecture by the Venerable Geshe Jagba Gyatso, “The Four Noble Truths,” which will be held in the conference hall
