Program of the Celebration of the Zul National Holiday at the Central Khurul

Dear believers, the annual rituals of prolonging the years, which are held on the eve of our national holiday Zul, continue…

Today we would like to tell you in detail about the program of the celebration of Zul itself at the main Buddhist temple of Kalmykia. This year we mark it on December 14. Let us recall that on this day every representative of the Kalmyk people becomes a year older, and most importantly this holiday is closely connected with the Great Lama Tsongkhapa, Zungkva Gegen.

As the administration of the Central Khurul notes, on this day the festive prayer service will take place in two sessions: in the morning, from 9.00 to 11.30, during which the ritual “A Thousand Offerings to Lama Tsongkhapa” will be performed. And after treating everyone to fragrant bortsiki and delicious jomba, from 14.00 to 15.30 the festive prayer service will continue. The ritual of veneration of the Teacher — “Lama Chopa” — will be performed.

And, by tradition, on Zul a circumambulation around the temple is made, with the chanting of the “Migzem” mantra and the lighting of many butter lamps. The start is at 15.30.
