Program of the Tsagan Sar Celebrations in 2021
On Wednesday, February 10, on the 29th lunar day, the Kangso ritual for propitiating the protectors (Säküsnä nom) will take place at the Central Khurul of Kalmykia “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni.” The prayer service will be held in two sessions. The first session will begin at 09:00 and last until 11:30; the second session will be held from 13:00 to 15:00. On Thursday, February 11, the ritual “Bilgin zürknä üüdnäs shulms härülh yosn” (Sherning dudog) will take place — averting obstacles through the “Heart Sutra of Prajnaparamita.” The Tsagan Sar celebration itself will begin on February 12 with the ritual “Tsogt Okn Tengrin shinin balng örgh yosn” (Lhamo tsetor) — the ceremonial offering of torma to Palden Lhamo. At 12:00, upon completion of the festive prayer service, an online screening of Roman Sukhostavsky's film in honor of the Central Khurul's anniversary will be held. Since the celebration of Tsagan Sar this year falls on a Friday, the memorial prayer service for the deceased, Yöräl, is being moved to Saturday and will be held on February 13 at 14:00. All rituals will take place online.
