Restoration of Wall Mantras, Drawings, and Ornaments Begins in the Dugan of the Central Khurul

In the main prayer hall of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” the restoration of wall mantras, drawings, and ornaments has begun these days. This painstaking work is being carried out by the thangka painter Tatyana Muzraeva. She is being assisted by the artist

Kermen Tsebekova and the master Amra Dordzhi-Goryaeva.

“We compare the palettes and do the color matching — it is very important to hit the tone of the previous color. This work is probably much more difficult than applying a drawing from scratch,” says the experienced painting master Tatyana Muzraeva. For the most part, the areas of the Dugan that came under restoration are those where the walls come into contact with the chairs. Unfortunately, many believers do not notice the damage they cause to the wall drawings and ornaments. That is why the masters appeal to all parishioners to be attentive and to take care of our khurul.

The work is being carried out in accordance with all Buddhist canons. Within the next 10 days, the artists plan to complete the restoration.
