The “Sera Tosam Ling” Khurul opened its doors to the faithful
In the village of Sarpa in the Ketchenerovsky district, the opening of the Khoshutovsky Khurul named after Zaya Pandita took place. The consecration ceremony of the khurul was led by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche and the Khamby Lama of Tyva Gelek Natsyk-Dorzhu.
Before the start of the prayer service, the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia addressed those present with words of greeting. In his speech, Rinpoche-la noted the importance of building stupas and khuruls. “Today we are performing a spiritual deed. When we speak of the opening of a new temple, it is not the same as the opening of a school or an administrative building. Today we have gathered to open and consecrate a new holy place on the territory of our land,” Telo Tulku Rinpoche stated.
“After the rituals are performed, this khurul will become a truly holy place where people will gather in order to perform spiritual deeds and accumulate buyan. I hope that in the future this khurul will become a place where not only rituals and rites will be held, but which will also become a center of enlightenment and learning, where the Teaching of Buddha Shakyamuni will be deeply comprehended,” the Shajin Lama added. Also, on behalf of the Central Khurul of Kalmykia, Rinpoche-la presented the khurul with a thangka of the White Umbrella Tara.
The Khamby Lama of Tyva congratulated the people of Sarpa on the opening of the khurul. In his address, he recalled the common tradition, culture, and religion that unite the two peoples. “To take part in the opening ceremony of your temple is a great happiness. I see in this a very good sign,” the Khamby Lama stated.
“You have built a beautiful temple. This speaks of your composure and resolve and, of course, of your good karma. And on behalf of the clergy and people of Tyva, we want to present you with a complete collection of the Kangyur and the Tengyur,” Gelek Natsyk-Dorzhu promised.
On this day, the residents of the village were congratulated on such a remarkable event by the Head of the Ketchenerovsky district Sanal Godzhurov, the director of the “Sarpa” collective farm Mikhail Mutulov, and the heads of the rural municipal formations of the Ketchenerovsky district.
Before the start of the prayer service, the Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia awarded an Honorary Certificate of the Shajin Lama to those who made a significant contribution to the construction of the Khoshutovsky Khurul “Sera Tosam Ling”. Among those honored were the architect Baatr Moshuldaev, Baatr Okchaev, the family of Nikolai Ochirov, and Alexander Utadzhiev.
Upon completion of the prayer service, a festive concert took place in the courtyard of the khurul. Artists of the national orchestra of Kalmykia, as well as students of the Sarpa comprehensive school, performed before the guests and the faithful.
