Shajin Lama of Kalmykia held a series of working meetings

At a meeting with the Minister of Construction of the Republic of Kalmykia Viktor Dzhandzhiev, the parties discussed the repair of the “Säküsn süm” building and a section of the road leading from the Elista bypass to the clergy’s house.

This year marks 25 years since the opening of the Geden Sheddub Choy Korling Monastery, known among the people as “Säküsn süm” or the Arshan Khurul. It was built and opened on November 5, 1996. A number of events dedicated to this notable date are planned.

Also on this day a meeting took place between the Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia and the head of the Kalmyk branch of Sberbank of Russia, Veniamin Kim. At the meeting, questions of cooperation and interaction within the framework of the project to improve the grounds of the Central Khurul were discussed.

“The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” is a landmark of the Republic of Kalmykia. Every year thousands of tourists and guests of the republic visit the Buddhist temple. Last year the devout Buddhists marked 15 years since the opening of the Central Khurul of Kalmykia. At present, work is underway on the project to improve the temple grounds, the implementation of which will make “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” an even more beautiful and attractive place for the residents of the republic and its guests.
