Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Took Part in a Cultural and Religious Festival in Mongolia
Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak took part in the cultural and religious festival “Danshig-Khuree Tsam 2024” in Mongolia, which was held on August 3 and 4.
Over the course of two days, numerous events were held on the outskirts of the city of Ulaanbaatar. One of the highlights of the festival was the Tsam mystery, a costumed dance performance in which every movement carries a special meaning and significance.
Traditionally, during the days of this religious and cultural festival, the veneration of the deity Ochirvani also took place — the benefactor of the Mongolian people, a symbol of unity and strength. Many clergy took part in debates on religious teachings, and there was also a contest among masters of preparing balins, a ritual offering to the deities made from barley flour, clarified butter, sugar, and honey.
All the guests were delighted by artistic and equestrian performances and horse races. As always, the national wrestling and archery competitions stirred up a storm of emotions.
