The Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Took Part in the Opening Ceremony of a New Buddhist Temple in Tuva
Today in Kyzyl the grand opening of the Buddhist monastery “Tubten Shedrub Ling” took place; it received the name “Abode of the Explanation and Practice of the Teaching of Buddha Shakyamuni”.
Representatives of the Kalmyk monastic Sangha also took part in the festive events: the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak (Mutul Ovyanov) and Andzha-gelung.
A very important and significant event of the entire celebration was the placement of the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni into the main statue of the monastery. This relic, sacred to all Buddhists, was granted to the Tuvan monastery last year by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
“We are very glad for our brotherly people, who today are experiencing such a significant event. We are confident that this Buddhist temple will become yet another place of religious attraction and will give new momentum to the development of Buddhism not only in this region, but in the country as a whole,” the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia noted in a telephone conversation.
