Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Visits the Lagan Dargyeling Khurul

In search of a good contractor. The Lagan Dargyeling Khurul is in the process of negotiations with a contracting organization that will carry out the repair works of the Statue of Buddha Maitreya.

This was reported to the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, who during his most recent visit to the Lagan district inspected the entire khurul complex.

As the khurul administrator Otkhon-Gelung notes, they plan to fully paint the Statue of the Coming Buddha and reinforce the structures. Scaffolding has already been installed. “It is important to find a conscientious crew that will do their work well and eliminate all the shortcomings,” the Shajin Lama noted.

As a reminder, in the autumn of 2019 the grand opening and consecration of the largest statue of Buddha Maitreya in Europe took place in the town of Lagan; its height reaches 13.5 m and its weight is 30 tons.
