During his pilgrimage, Shajin Lama of Kalmykia visited the Maloderbetovsky and Arshan-Zelmensky khuruls
At the “Ganden Dargyeling” khurul of the village of Malye Derbety, Telo Tulku Rinpoche held a prayer service for removing obstacles and invoking well-being, as well as the tantric ritual Tsog based on the text Lama Chopa (an offering to the Teacher).
Before the start of the prayer service, the Shajin Lama gave instruction to the assembled residents of Malye Derbety and the pilgrims from Elista on observing the fast during the sacred month of Urs Sar. According to him, observing the fast, as well as the daily lighting of butter lamps, making offerings, and reciting mantras are an integral part of Kalmyk culture and traditions. “We all say that traditions must be preserved, but what are we doing for this? Think about what we will leave for the future generation,” Telo Tulku Rinpoche urged those present.
On the same day, the Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia, together with the monks of the Central Khurul, visited the village of Arshan-Zelmen. Here the clergy performed the rite of offering to the earth — Hazr Taklhn (Sangsol). Also, at a meeting with the residents of the village, the Shajin Lama gave instructions on observing the fast during the sacred month of Urs Sar and on the main Buddhist practices.
At the conclusion of the pilgrimage through the northern districts of Kalmykia, Telo Tulku Rinpoche stopped by the village of Ketchenery, where a khurul is being built. The Head of the Ketchenerovsky district Sanal Godzhurov led the Rinpoche through the construction site and told him which stages have been completed to date and which are still to be carried out.
