Students of the Chilgir School Study the Basics of Buddhism in the Local Temple
The life story of Buddha Shakyamuni, an understanding of the Three Jewels, knowledge about the 10 non-virtuous deeds, the teaching of compassion and mercy — this is only a small part of what the students of the Chilgir secondary school study. For 1.5 years now they have been visiting the local Buddhist temple “Choyzhil Säküsn Süm,” where the abbot of the khurul, Mergen Lama, holds special classes for them on the basics of Buddhism.
The classes themselves take place in the temple. Here, in a cozy atmosphere, the children discover for themselves the wonderful world of spiritual values: they learn about the path to enlightenment, become acquainted with deep and wise teachings, and reflect on how to take kind and mindful steps in life.
Each lesson is not just a lecture but a living dialogue: the children ask questions, share their thoughts, and immerse themselves with sincere curiosity in the heritage of the ancient teachings.
As the abbot of the khurul, Mergen Lama, notes, these are not just classes — they are sprouts of kindness and wisdom that he is confident will grow in the future and give the world more light and harmony. And on the whole, to see how the interest of young hearts in spiritual origins grows gives hope and fills one with joy.
