Today the Teachings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for the Buddhists of Russia concluded

In keeping with the tradition that has already taken shape, the Teachings began with the recitation of the “Heart Sutra of Prajnaparamita.” Today the sutra was recited in the Kalmyk and Russian languages by the monks and faithful of the Central Khurul of Kalmykia “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” and of the Saint Petersburg datsan “Gunzechoinei.”

On the eve of the Teachings, during the general rehearsal, the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia reminded all those present that this is a very good opportunity and chance to communicate with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. “We recite the Heart Sutra in the Kalmyk language not for the sake of presentation, not for the sake of beauty; by doing this we make an offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to the Three Jewels. Remember this.”

On the second day of the Teachings, His Holiness the Dalai Lama decided to bestow an explanation of the essence of the Buddha’s Teaching, after which a question-and-answer session followed. In all, on this day 10 questions were voiced from Kalmykia, Saint Petersburg, the Zabaykalsky Krai, and Moscow, and they concerned various topics.

At the conclusion of the Teaching, the Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia, Honorary Representative of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Russia, Mongolia and the CIS countries, Telo Tulku Rinpoche, thanked the Dalai Lama for the Teaching he had bestowed, for his kindness and attention to the Buddhists of Russia. Rinpoche also thanked the office of His Holiness and all the organizers of the Teachings for their tireless work in organizing the Teachings over the course of 13 years.
