Telo Tulku Rinpoche on the Teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the Buddhists of Russia
As always, we eagerly await the Teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the Buddhists of Russia, which it is a great honor for us to organize. This year His Holiness will explain to his followers Maitreya’s work “The Ornament of Mahayana Sutras” (Mahayanasutralamkara). We are very glad that His Holiness’s choice fell precisely on this book. Several years ago we turned to His Holiness with a request to compile for us a list of Buddhist works that he would like to see published in the Russian language. The work of translating them became our most important task. “The Ornament of Mahayana Sutras,” therefore, is a special book, since it was translated into Russian on the personal recommendation of the Dalai Lama. The translation work was carried out over several years, and, at last, the long-awaited book has seen the light of day. All those who took part in its preparation accumulated incredible spiritual merit by carrying out the instruction of His Holiness. We are very glad that we have the opportunity not only to present “The Ornament of Mahayana Sutras” in the Russian language to His Holiness, but also to hear from his own lips the commentaries to this book, which tells of the spiritual feats of the bodhisattvas who devoted themselves to serving all living beings. In the difficult times in which we live, the connection with our spiritual mentors, gurus, and their precious instructions serve for us as a source of inspiration, hope, and inner strength. Over the past two years of the pandemic, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has regularly held meetings with universities, outstanding scholars and public figures and, of course, Buddhist organizations. We are very glad that he always finds time for us, his Russian followers, who highly value the opportunity to meet with him, both real and virtual. For the Teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the Buddhists of Russia we have prepared an extensive program, including explanatory lectures by the director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, the Venerable Geshe Lhakdor, who is greatly loved and valued in our country, as well as an exclusive screening of the new documentary film “Mission: Joy — Finding Happiness in Troubled Times” about the friendship between Archbishop Desmond Tutu and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We will be sincerely glad to see all of you at the most important event of the year, which for all of us is undoubtedly the Teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the Buddhists of Russia. With prayers, Telo Tulku Rinpoche, Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Honorary Representative of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Russia, Mongolia and the CIS countries
