Tenzin Norzang Gelung (Sanal Mukubenov) Will Defend the High Title of “Geshe Lharampa” This Year

We would like to share wonderful news from India, where our countryman Tenzin Norzang Gelung (Sanal Mukabenov) has been studying for many years.

This year Gen Sanal, together with another 42 monks, is defending the high monastic title in the Gelug tradition, the degree of “Geshe Lharampa”. Today they had an audience with the Abbot of Drepung Gomang, the Venerable Khen Rinpoche, and requested that he bestow upon them the “Geshe” degree.

The official announcement of this year’s list of Geshes will take place on October 7, and the joint defense of the degree in the form of public debates will be held from November 16 to 22.

Khen Rinpoche gave his blessing and granted permission to hold the necessary ceremonies related to obtaining the academic degree.
