The 1st International Buddhist Forum Continues Its Work. Day 2.

On the second day of the 1st International Buddhist Forum, all participants were invited to the Ivolginsky Datsan. The event began with a large prayer service, a veneration of Buddha Shakyamuni, in which guests and forum participants from 13 foreign countries and regions of Russia took part; afterward a conference dedicated to the phenomenon of Itigelov was held.

At the plenary session, Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak spoke at the conference on behalf of the Kalmyk clergy, noting the importance of such events and of the dialogues held here. “We, the Buddhists of Russia, always strive for interaction and cooperation with Buddhists of all countries. Today, within this forum, the participation of countries where Buddhism has been practiced for thousands of years is important, and we have the opportunity to understand and adopt their experience, where Buddhist philosophy is interwoven with the culture of the people. This is a very important moment, especially for our younger generation. Today, comprehensively discussing the issues of the development of Buddhism, Buddhist culture, philosophy and practice, we understand how useful and necessary Buddhism is to modern society,” noted Geshe Tenzin Choydak.

Tomorrow the forum will continue its work. We will keep acquainting you, dear countrymen, with the interesting moments of this significant event.
