On March 10 in Moscow, at the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research took place. “At the meeting, one of the main topics was the discussion of the Foundation's work plan for 2023. The Foundation's leadership plans to launch a grant program starting in April of this year, allocating funds to support Buddhist research, education and the activities of Buddhist communities, including:
— large grants for the development of undergraduate and graduate educational programs on the basis of leading regional Universities, in cooperation with local Buddhist organizations. Grants to support the research activities of Buddhist communities and to support conferences.
— small grants: the writing of scholarly articles, the development of continuing professional education programs, the holding of round tables.
Also in 2023, a publishing program will be carried out — the Foundation plans to publish up to 10 important scholarly monographs and translations by the end of the year.
An important task of the Foundation is seen to be the launch of a unified Buddhist information portal and media projects in the form of a series of podcasts.
And in August 2023 in Buryatia a major international conference on new trends in Buddhist education and research will take place. In the future it is planned to hold this conference in other regions where Buddhism is traditionally practiced,” said a member of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, the head of the administration of the Central Khurul, Yonten-Gelung (S. V. Kirishov).
The meeting of the Foundation's Board of Trustees was also attended by the advisor to the Head of the Republic of Kalmykia Gennady Korneev and the permanent representative to the President of the Russian Federation from Kalmykia Andrey Kartiev.
