The Central Khurul Holds the Concluding Life-Extension Rituals
The goddess of longevity Ushnishavijaya (Namjl burhn). It was to her that today’s prayer service in the main Buddhist temple was dedicated. As with all the previous “Nas utdullhn” rituals, it was crowded. Everyone who came to the khurul today sincerely turned to the one who heals all illnesses, who helps
overcome obstacles to a long life, who purifies bad karma — to the goddess of virtuous merit, Ushnishavijaya.
Before the start of the prayer service, the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, traditionally addressed the faithful, reminding everyone once more that it is important to come with the good motivation of extending life not only for oneself and one’s relatives, but also thinking of all living beings.
Tomorrow, December 3, the final life-extension ritual will take place. The monastic Sangha will offer its prayers to the goddess of longevity, White Tara. It begins at 9:00 a.m.
