The golden drink “Serdzhm”
“Altn undn” - “the golden drink”… this is what believers call the special drink that they offer to the Deities, the Säküsn, and all the Protectors with a request for help
This rite is called “Serdzhm”.
Today we want to tell you about it in detail.
Surely many people coming to the service have seen a large vat in the center of the hall, into which laypeople pour strongly brewed tea brought from home. This is that very “golden drink”.
This ritual in the khurul is obligatory and daily; it is among the rituals performed at the morning prayer service.
The monks recite special prayers, purify the Serdzhm brought by the laypeople, and then consecrate it, thereby transforming the drink into nectar. And only after this is it offered with great reverence to all the Deities. The believers, meanwhile, offer up prayers and ask for help in all their affairs. As the clergymen themselves note, this ritual is very important for removing obstacles.
So how should one prepare for it?
One needs to buy good (leaf) tea, brew it strongly, strain it so that it is free of tea leaves, and bring it to the khurul before 9:00 in the morning, not hot. The volume of the prepared drink should be small. A small jar is enough. In preparing the Serdzhm, inner motivation is important; at the same time, one must address the Deities and Protectors with great respect and love, asking them for the help that they will surely provide.
This rite is also performed with alcohol and milk, but most often it is specifically with black tea.
