The international forum “Religion and Peace” opened in Moscow yesterday

The senior administrator of the Central Khurul, member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Yonten-Gelung (Sergey Kirishov), is taking part in it. Over the course of the forum, religious figures, government representatives, leaders of public movements, and experts from more than 10 countries are discussing issues of state and public support for the most important peacemaking and charitable projects, as well as countering disinformation in the media and on the internet.

In his speech at the opening of the forum, Yonten-Gelung noted that all religions speak of the same spiritual and moral foundations - of great kindness, compassion, and an equal attitude toward all living beings. He also spoke about the social service of the Kalmyk clergy.

The forum is one of the largest discussion platforms in the world, where for almost 10 years issues of interreligious relations and the consolidation of society on the basis of traditional values have been discussed. Moreover, representatives of the clergy can also play an important role in strengthening international relations. In his report at one of the panel sessions, Yonten Lodoy noted that the cooperation of Russia's Buddhists with Asian countries could be transformed into political, economic, and cultural interaction, contributing to Russia's “pivot” to the East.

Today the international forum will continue its work
