The Obstacle-Removing Ritual “Torgyak” Held by the Monks of the Central Khurul

The majestic sounds of the ükr bürä and tsangov (kettledrums) and a special prayer of the monks — everything today is dedicated to the Protector of the Buddhist Teaching, Erlg Nomin Khan. Today the Central Khurul held the third of the annual tantric rituals — “Torgyak.”

The ritual took place in two sessions. In the first part, the monks led by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia recited prayers of praise, appeasement, and propitiation to Erlg Nomin Khan and made offerings to him in the form of special torma, while in the second part of the ritual the “sor,” which absorbs everything negative, was burned in a fire. Overall, “Torgyak” contributes to the pacification of harmful spirits and to harmony in the world, and to the removal of all obstacles. For this, a special weapon is thrown into the ritual fire — the trident of Erlg Nomin Khan, which will strike the “enemy,” by which is understood our ignorance, wrong views, and all our obscurations — everything that is the source of our suffering.

Having thrown the ritual weapon into a specially prepared straw hut, the monks committed everything to the fire, and it is at this very moment that the participants of the ritual must immediately turn around and leave without looking back, imagining themselves as the victors of a great battle.

It is very important, after purification from the negative,  to strive to help all living beings, to be kind and compassionate🙏

And we remind you that tomorrow, October 4, the series of annual tantric rituals will be continued by “Tangrak Kangso.” It begins at 9:00.
