The Venerable Khen Rinpoche Visited the Lagan District
Today the residents of the Lagan District greeted the venerable Khen Rinpoche with great joy.
At the Dargyeling Khurul, before the prayer service, the abbot of the Drepung Gomang monastery gave all those gathered brief instructions on Buddhism. He noted that in such a large, beautiful Buddhist temple it is important not only to hold prayer services, but it is also necessary to conduct classes on the study of the Dharma, especially to organize educational programs for the younger generation: “Simply reading prayers makes it difficult to rid oneself of afflictions. One must study the philosophy of Buddhism, strive to understand the fundamentals. Drepung Gomang and Kalmykia are bound by a long-standing spiritual connection, and I am happy to be here today and to experience your warm hospitality for myself.”
The teacher spoke in detail about the monastery itself, about its history, about the contribution made by representatives of the Kalmyk people to the development of this ancient monastic university. Everyone seated in the prayer hall listened very attentively to His Eminence.
After the instructions a prayer service was held, and all the faithful were able to receive the blessing of Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso.
