The Works of a Torma-Making Master Now Adorn the Lagan Khurul Too

For a little over a week, the venerable Geshe Lharampa Choy Gyatso, a monk who arrived from India at the invitation of the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, stayed at the Lagan khurul. During this time he created there yet more of his works — Tormas for the main altar of the local temple, as well as preparing  offerings for a number of deities.

According to Othon-Gelung, the administrator of the Lagan Dargyeling khurul, they will now use these sacred objects, which embody the energy of the deity, in the Buddhist rituals they perform: “On special days, matsg ödr, these symbolic offerings prepared, for example, for Green Tara or for the Medicine Buddha, will serve as an ‘abode’ for their presence during the ritual. We were glad to receive Geshe Choy Gyatso within the walls of our khurul, and we are grateful to the Shajin Lama for inviting such a master of Torma-making.”
