Today Kalmykia Celebrates the National Holiday of Zul

The monastic Sangha, headed by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak, congratulates all residents of Kalmykia on the celebration of the national holiday of Zul. “May harmony reign in every family, may all members of your family be healthy, may every living being abide in happiness and well-being,” — with such wishes the monks of the Central Khurul address the people.

In the morning, the ritual “A Thousand Offerings to Lama Tsongkhapa” was performed at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni.” The entire prayer hall, in a single impulse together with the monks, chanted the Migzem mantra dedicated to Zungkva Gegen. The benefit of reciting this prayer is vast: everyone who utters it receives the blessing of the great Tsongkhapa, receives powerful protection from unfavorable forces and from illnesses. One of the sacred Sutras says: “At the mere mention of the name of Tsongkhapa, who is the embodiment of all the Buddhas of the ten directions, all vices are removed, and all virtues increase. When appealed to with a prayer, Lama Tsongkhapa protects from the dangers of this and future lives…”.

The Head of Kalmykia Batu Khasikov also conveyed his words of congratulation, wishing everyone peace, harmony, and the fulfillment of good hopes. The address of greeting was read out by the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Kalmykia Gilyana Boskhomdzhieva: “In the family circle we recall the customs of our ancestors, pray for the happiness of our relatives and loved ones, and pronounce good wishes calling for peace and concord in our homes. Today, by tradition, the lights of thousands of lamps will be lit. May this light enter every home, bringing with it well-being, happiness, prosperity, joy, and bright confidence in the future.”

Dear faithful, at 14:00 the second session of the festive prayer service will begin. The ritual of veneration of the Teacher — “Lama Chopa” — will be performed.
