Today Russia Celebrates Librarians’ Day

Today  library workers are being congratulated across the country. With our best wishes we dropped in to visit the head of the Buddhist library of the Central Khurul, Nadezhda Bakaraeva. For 17 years now she has been working for the benefit of her readers: these are the monks of our Buddhist temple, laypeople, and simply tourists. According to Nadezhda Fyodorovna, the library of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” has the most varied Buddhist literature: from classical canonical texts to books by contemporary authors.

Every day both readers and simply tourists come here. “We constantly update our book collection. To introduce people to new releases, we try to organize book exhibitions. We often hold educational events here: book presentations, lectures, meetings of Buddhist clubs. Life is in full swing, as they say. I like my work; it brings me joy and a sense of involvement in the spiritual enrichment of the parishioners. I always rejoice with everyone who takes an interest in the Buddhist teaching,” Nadezhda Bakaraeva says.

And today, on her professional holiday, she is at work. Readers, guests of the library — everyone needs her attention. And then there is the arrival of new books published in 2023, which need to be prepared for her readers…
