Today the Central Khurul Presented Its New Project
Today, at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” one of the vivid and memorable events took place. For the first time, ancient Kalmyk prayers were performed for the general public in their new arrangement. Let us recall that this project was launched last year, with grant support from the Agency for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Kalmykia.
Thanks to the work of the staff of the Center for the Development of the Kalmyk Language, under the leadership of Ochir Terbataev, those gathered today in the conference hall of the Central Khurul had the opportunity not only to listen to the prayers in their new arrangement, but also to sing them, reading the text from the screen.
On behalf of the Kalmyk clergy, the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak thanked everyone who contributed to such a significant cause for the entire Kalmyk people.
It is worth noting that the authors of the project prepared the prayers most significant for Kalmyk Buddhists. For example, the Heart Sutra of Prajnaparamita, the prayer for invoking happiness, the praise to White Tara, to the Medicine Buddha, the prayer of the Buddha Amitayus, and so on.
Everyone who carried out this project shared their impressions with their fellow countrymen today, told how the work proceeded, what difficulties they encountered, and what emotions each of them experienced — the meeting turned out to be very heartfelt and interesting.
A very vivid moment of today’s presentation was the listening to the now familiar prayer “Bazr Dari,” when the hall, in a single impulse, together with the performer, sang every line of this ancient prayer.
The head of the administration of the Central Khurul, Yonten Gelung, noted that if every prepared prayer sounds in our families, and the younger generation knows them, then the goals set in the course of realizing this project will be achieved. And in continuation of the direction of developing spiritual music, today the main Buddhist temple of Kalmykia announced a competition, “Shastrin Dun,” which will take place in April of next year. A little later we will tell you about it in more detail on our platforms.
