Tour Guide Certification Completed at the Central Khurul

An important stage of work with the tour guides who are certified at the khurul has concluded at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni.” As a reminder, every year the main Buddhist temple of Kalmykia traditionally serves as a venue for testing the professional competencies of tour guides. This year the accreditation procedure was carried out on a particularly large scale. The examinations proved manageable: 36 experienced guides confirmed their qualifications, and 15 beginning specialists joined the ranks of accredited tour guides (a total of 24 newcomers signed up for the exam).

According to the chairman of the examination commission, Andzha-Gelung, the preparation of the newcomers began long before the exam. Over the course of two weeks, an intensive training program was conducted with the beginning tour guides: experienced specialists shared practical skills, presented the material, revealed the secrets of working with different groups of tourists, and demonstrated techniques for holding the audience’s attention. Later the exam itself was held, during which each participant gave a mini-tour before the certification commission.

Exactly one week from now, the Tulip Festival will begin in the republic, which traditionally becomes a point of attraction for tourists from various regions of Russia. Thanks to the renewed roster of accredited tour guides, the festival’s guests will be able to gain even deeper and more vivid impressions from their acquaintance with Kalmykia, to feel the special atmosphere of the khurul, and to touch upon the philosophy of Buddhism.
