Traditional life-extension rituals begin at the Central Khurul.
We remind you that tomorrow, November 26, the traditional life-extension rituals begin at the Central Khurul. They are held every year on the eve of the national holiday of Zul. They will begin with a prayer service for the long life of Buddha Amitayus, at which the clergy will read the sutra “Tsaglsh uga nasni sudr” - the Sutra of Infinite Life. As stated in the sutra itself, if people hear even the title of this Sutra, or read it aloud, copy it, keep it at home, or simply hear it - then their lifespan will not be depleted, and they will be able to live many years: “O Manjushri, if people hear the 108 names of the Buddha named ‘Boundless Life and Wisdom, the King of Splendor Who Fully Discerns,’ then their lifespan will be prolonged, even the lifespan of those who stand on the threshold of the complete depletion of their life, if they remember these names…” Anyone who wishes may come and take part in the prayer service. But it is especially important to extend the years before Zul for people born in the year of the Rabbit and the Rooster. The prayer service begins at 9:00. We also remind you that on November 27, this Sunday, the Ritual of the goddess of long life White Tara “Dolkar Tsedub” will take place. The monks will read “Tsahan Darkin nasni butal.”
