Ahead of Tsagan Sar, Two Great Rituals Will Be Held at the Central Khurul
Ahead of the national holiday “Tsagan Sar,” on February 16, the monks of the Central Khurul will perform two great rituals: “Kangso” and “Hurvn Hüv.”
The date was not chosen by chance: according to the lunar calendar, this day falls on the 29th — a special day of the Protectors of the Dharma. In the khurul, praises will be recited to all the Süküsyans and offerings will be made, praying for the well-being of all living beings. It is especially important on this day to offer the Protectors of the Teaching the golden beverage Serjm (strongly brewed black tea).
After lunch, at 13:00, the rite “Hurvn Hüv” (“The Three-Hour Offering”) will begin, aimed at removing obstacles and ailments. During the ritual, the monks will recite a special text to rid people of illnesses, negativity, and any hindrances. The faithful will be given pieces of dough with which they will “roll over” themselves, symbolically gathering up all the negativity, everything bad and unnecessary.
Dear faithful! We remind you that there is no need to bring dough from home — it will be provided at the khurul.
The Kalmyk people will widely celebrate the national holiday “Tsagan Sar” on February 18 — on the first lunar day of the month of the Dragon.
