1000 Musicians Made a Creative Offering to the Three Jewels

Today, on the grounds of the Central Khurul, the tenth, anniversary Musical Offering to the Three Jewels took place. A thousand musicians and vocalists with sincere faith presented their creative gift to the great Buddha, his Teaching and the noble Sangha. The sound of the combined orchestra under the direction of Honored Artist of the Republic of Kalmykia Savr Kataev once again captivated everyone who gathered on this day.

The Shajin Lama of Kalmykia welcomed all the guests who had arrived in Elista in these days for the III International Buddhist Forum. Foreign guests and guests from other regions of our country were struck by the scale of this unique event. “Once again I am endlessly glad to see our younger generation, for it is precisely they who will carry forward our Kalmyk culture, our faith, our traditions and customs. It is through events such as these that the foundations of Buddhism can be conveyed to children. And we, the Central Khurul, will always support such projects,” assured Geshe Tenzin Choydak.

The head of the region, Batu Khasikov, noted in his speech that the three days of the forum, within the framework of which the Musical Offering was held, were now behind them — a forum that showed that Buddhism is a living knowledge that offers practical answers to the challenges of the modern age: “This forum has made us all wiser, has brought us closer to one another. Undoubtedly, we all see that the development of Buddhism in our country is becoming more and more dynamic year by year.”

This year the participants of the Offering delighted the audience with an even greater number of performances. It is gratifying that more and more songs of a spiritual nature are appearing in the repertoire. Also today, musicians from the Republic of Tyva and the Republic of Buryatia took part in the event.
