Final life-extension rituals held in Kalmykia
“Do good! It is always possible. It will benefit not only you and your loved ones, but everyone around you. Teach this to your children, your grandchildren… The Great Buddha bequeathed to us his Teaching, and we need only to live according to this Teaching,” — this is how the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, began today’s great prayer service. He emphasized that over these three weeks, on weekends, the annual life-extension rituals took place at the Central Khurul. It is gratifying that they were attended by a great many people, including many young people and children.
Today the monks, both in the Dugan and in the conference hall, together with the faithful, offered up their prayers to Ayush Burkhn, Amitayus, the Buddha of Longevity. They asked for the removal of obstacles to a long and happy life, they asked for well-being and sound health, they asked for harmony and peace…
In 3 days all of Kalmykia will celebrate the arrival of the national holiday Zul. On that day, December 25, at 9:00 in the morning, the festive prayer service will begin; it will take place in 2 sessions. Also on that day, the monks of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” will treat the laity to fragrant jomba and delicious bortsog. And after lunch, a circumambulation around the khurul will take place with the chanting of the “Migzem” mantra.
