Kalmykia Celebrates the National Holiday of Zul
As is the tradition, the national holiday of Zul was celebrated at the Central Khurul with a great solemn prayer service. The monks offered prayers to the deities and recited praises, asking for the well-being and happiness of every living being.
“It is very pleasant today to see in the hall many children, teenagers, and young people who are surely absorbing these traditions of ours, who know the essence of this sacred holiday, and who will later pass it on to their own descendants. Today it is important to sincerely perform virtuous deeds and to offer prayers for all living beings, and this will bring only benefit,” said Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak, addressing those gathered.
The Head of the Republic of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov, also addressed his warm words of congratulation to all residents: “This is a truly bright holiday of ours, with the deepest meaning, with its own traditions and rituals. I am here at the khurul with the greatest pleasure, immersing myself in the atmosphere of prosperity, harmony, and kindness. I wish every resident of our republic health and well-being. May the coming year bring much joy and happiness.”
Today’s prayer service was held in two sessions. The faithful were treated to fragrant jomba and delicious bortsoks. And this festive day concluded with a threefold circumambulation of the temple accompanied by the recitation of the Migzem mantra and the lighting of a hundred butter lamps.
