Venerable Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso arrives in Kalmykia
Today the 3rd International Buddhist Forum opens in our republic. Every day Kalmykia welcomes guests.
The day before, the Abbot of the Indian monastery of Drepung Gomang, the Venerable Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso, arrived in Elista.
A meeting between Shajin Lama Geshe Tenzin Choydak and Khen Rinpoche took place immediately. Many matters were discussed, one of which concerned the progress of the Kalmyk monks studying in India.
Later, the monks of the Central Khurul came to pay their respects to His Eminence and to receive instructions. Let us recall that this is the high Teacher's second official visit to Russia since his appointment to the post of Abbot of the ancient Buddhist monastery where our Kalmyk monks have historically received, and still receive to this day, their spiritual education.
The Venerable Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso presented to the main Buddhist temple of Kalmykia an image of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and a thangka from the Drepung Gomang monastery.
